Senior Pastor Michael A. Smith

 Our pastor, Michael Allan Smith, is a native Atlantan who answered the call to ministry in  1977. He is a 1974 graduate of Morehouse College where he earned a B.A. in Business  Administration and minored in music. In 1980, he earned the M.Div. from the  Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) where he majored in Pastoral Care and  Christian Education. He is also the recipient of the Doctor of Divinity degree conferred  upon him by the Southern California School of Ministry in 1995.

 For 31 years he has been married to Rev. Felecia Pearson Smith and they are the  parents of two adult children, Allan Rudolph and Allyson Felecia Smith.
Pastor Mike has over 26 years of pastoral experience with three different congregations: Cove Road Church of God in Lafayette, GA (1980-1985), Cedar Avenue Church of God in Sharon, PA (1985-1998) and Community Church of God in Atlanta, GA (1998-present).

He currently serves the national church as the Director of the In Service Training Institute (1996-present), and the Southern Regional Director (2003-present) for the National Association of the Church of God, West Middlesex, PA. Former positions with the National Association include Associate Dean of the In Service Training Institute (1993-1995), Task Force Committee (1994-1996), and Program Committee 1988-1993. He also has served on the Program Committee (1992-1995) for the International Church of God Convention in Anderson, IN.

While pastoring in Sharon, PA, some of his community affiliations included the Mercer County (PA) Branch NAACP (1986-1998) where he served as president from (1993-1996); Farrell, PA area school district volunteer (1991-1992); board member of Sanctuary, Inc. in Sharon, PA (1987-1990). He also was a member of the Sharon (PA) Clergy Association (1985-1998) where he served as president (1989-1990) and the Shenango Valley (PA) Ministerial Association (1985-1998); member of the Church of God in Western Pennsylvania, Emlenton, PA (1985-1998) where he served on the credentials and nominating committee and as chair (1990-1992).

Pastor Mike is a visionary leader who believes in unity of the believers and works diligently to develop ecumenical relationships. Since 1998 he has been a member of the Concerned Black Clergy. In 2001 he was instrumental in organizing the Cascade Ministerial Fellowship. As a community activist, he also is a member of the mayor’s Faith- Based Initiative Coalition.

Under Pastor Mike’s leadership, the church has purchased a 26 passenger bus, additional properties for future expansion and the Rudolph Smith Ministry Building. He has expanded our outreach ministries by establishing partnerships with Church on the Street and Safe House Ministries. His desire is to expand the kingdom of God by cultivating Community Church of God as a worshipping and witnessing church.
